DATA EXPLORER · UPDATED FROM DATASET

NEXTGENINDIA PUBLIC-INTEREST DATA

India's Paper Leak
Timeline & Accountability Tracker

Explore documented examination paper-leak incidents from 2004–2026. Compare years, regions, exam bodies, actions and the Union government in office when each incident occurred.

Important: Government-in-power labels provide historical context only. They do not by themselves establish that a political party caused, directed or was legally responsible for an incident—especially where state boards or independent bodies conducted the exam.

Methodology & limitations

This is a curated media-source dataset, not an official census of every leak. A higher count can reflect more incidents, better digital reporting, broader source collection, or all three. Counts should not be used alone to claim causation or compare party performance.

01Date-based context. Records before 26 May 2014 are labelled Congress-led UPA; records from that date onward are labelled BJP-led NDA.
02No automatic blame. The Union government label is context, while many incidents involve state agencies, universities or independent exam bodies.
03Missing values remain missing. Aspirants, arrests, convictions and deaths are summed only when the source data provides a number.
04Open verification. Every record keeps its original publication name and source link.
